A hole has opened in the road and swallowed most of a car. Police were called in the early hours of Thursday morning to Woodland Terrace in Greenwich, south east London. It just goes to underline what we find time and again that at some point the history of a site catches up with you. If I had a fiver for every time someone said to me “It’s always been residential around here you won’t find anything” and then, surprise, surprise, we do. Do your research and avoid the pitfalls. My guess would be that in this case it is related former gravel extraction, as this has caused similar incidents in this area in the past. More details of the incident can be found on the Independent website.
